Click to EnlargeKWAJALIEN OPERATIONS (VIDEO). American victories at Tarawa led to the invasion of the Kwajalien islands by the 4th Marine Division and the 7th Infantry Div. in February 1944. Kwajalien Atoll was the Japanese command center of the Marshals and the focus of its air power in the islands. Supported by battleships firing as close as 1,500 yards from the beach, the 7th Infantry fought its way across Kwajalien while the Marines 40 miles north attacked Rol and Namur. This film covers the USMC and Army combat actions at Rol, Namur and Kwajalien islands. 62 min. (contains rare WWII footage professionally transferred from 55+ year old film archives. Film quality varies from marginal to acceptable).
