FIELDS OF MEMORY: A Testimony to the Great War, by Anne Roze, with photography by John Foley
This is a beautiful book which must be seen to be appreciated. The color photography is of prize winning quality. The scenes depicted of WWI battlefields is both solemn and evocative. Even now, 80 years after the cease fire, the countryside still bears the scars of conflict: the dozens of cemeteries and memorials; the crumbling fortifications and trenches. Over 300 illustrations evocatively contrast the images of fighting with photographs of the battlefields as they exist today. Softcover. 232 pages, 8.5"x11.5".
