6th AIR FORCE AND THE ANTILLES AIR COMMAND: Alae Supra Canalem (Wings Over the Canal). Commemorative Limited Edition Unit History Book of the Army Air Corps & Army Air Force defence of the Panama Canal & Caribbean 1917-1945
For the first time, Dan Hagedorn brings forth the complete story of Army Air Corps and Army Air Force defence of the Panama Canal and Caribbean. This book details the history from 1917-1945 with the aircraft, units, and men whose previously unrecorded contributions led to Allied victory in WWII. Richly illustrated with photographs and tables, the story takes the reader from the days of the 7th Aero Squadron to the creation of the 6th Air Force and Antilles Air Command. 208 pages. Extra large 9" x 12" volume.
This is a terrific book for aircraft and history fans. Virtually no books on World War II ever even mentioned the Sixth Air Force or the air war in the Caribbean. For that very reason, this book is immensely interesting. It honors the thousands of airmen who were needed to guard the Panama Canal and to counter the enemy submarine threat there. Many rare photos of Army Air Corps planes from the 20's and 30's, many of which were still in service in WWII. Your collection of World War II history books is simply not complete without this volume!
