In World War II, the 'Bloody Bucket' Division suffered 2,683 Killed & 9,609 WIA in 10 months of combat in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, West Wall / Siegried Line, Ardennes & the Rhineland. Many WWII combat stories are included in this fine volume.

On November 30, 1953, the U.S. Army Office of the Chief of Military History certified that the 28th Infantry Division was the oldest division in the armed forces of the United States. Many commands of the 28th Infantry Division have roots in militia units in the Philadelphia area dating back to as early as 1747 during the War of the Spanish Succession. During the American Civil War, elements fought at Bull Run, Frerdericksburg, Gettysburg, Antietam and other infamous locations.

Regiments and Battalions of the 28th Part, or all of the Division, served in the Spanish American War (1898-99), the Mexican Border (1916-17), World War I (1917-18), World War II (1941-45), the Korean War (1950-53); more recently in such places as Bosnia, Kosovo, Germany, Baltic States, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Iraq and the Sinai. This 125th Anniversary volume also contains a listing of all Soldiers of the 28th who were deployed to Kosvo and Bosnia 2002-2004.

This outstanding division history also covers the 28th Division's more significan peace time operations including riot control, Three Mile Island, disaster relief and much more.
