92nd Infantry 'BUFFALO' Division in WWII: A Fragment of Victory in Italy. by Colonel Paul Goodman, U.S. Army. A Special Study on the 92nd (Colored) Infantry Division and its principal attachments, including the 442d Infantry Regiment. The 92nd Division participated in the North Apennines and Po Valley campaigns in Italy, and at its peak strength was the largest U.S. division. The segregated 92d Division received much criticism about its early combat record, largely from prejudiced senior commanders and press. When compared to other U.S. divisions in the ETO, the division suffered a relatively low casualty rate of 548 KIA, 2,187 WIA, 68 Died of Wounds beginning August 1944. 6" x 9" volume. 248 pgs. 7 maps. |
